Prologue
Technology represents POSIC's inductive position sensor. The POSIC
inductive position sensor combines the advantages of the inductive
sensing principle and silicon integration. Using coil-on-chip technology,
the bulky coil windings of the related resolvers and LVDTs are reduced
to the size of a silicon chip. In the same package, an application
specific integrated circuit (ASIC) provides signal conditioning
with digital or analog outputs. A separate signal processing board
provides interpolation and a robust interface, suitable for motion
control and industrial control applications. Applications include
upgrades to Hall effect based systems, motor control (brushless,
miniature DC, servo), machines (textile, wood, etc.), instrumented
mechanical parts (bearings, hydraulics, gear boxes), instrumentation
(metering, strain, torque), dimensional measurement (calipers, gauges
and robotics), where position and direction information is required.
